Cayenne peppers

This is commonly known as hot pepper or chili pepper. This herb is mostly used today not only for medicinal purposes but for weight loss as well.

Cayenne pepper is made from very pungent, small red varieties grown in Africa, India, Japan, Mexico, and Louisiana and ground to produce a powder.

Sweating and a rush of adrenalin are some of the effect of this herb. But, always be careful when taking this herb because excessive use can cause intestinal tract irritation.

It also can cause blistering to mouth, throat and tongue. The cayenne group, often called chili or finger peppers, is characterized by long curved pods ranging from 4 to 12 inches in length.

Capsaicinoids are the naturally occurring compounds that give cayenne pepper its pungency.

This ingredient normally used in South American, Caribbean and some European cooking, cayenne paper is used in curries, cheese dishes, and white sauces that include smoked fish, oyster and shrimp.

It also used in India, Indonesian and African cuisine.
